Spring is here and it is time to start thinking about those maintenance items
around your home and office. Here are some tips and suggestions of items
to be done for the season.
- Check your Air Conditioning. If you have central a/c, uncover the
compressor if you have covered it for the winter. Turn on your system
to cool and set the temperature down. See if the unit is functioning
and putting out cooled air. If it is, you are fine, if not, it is good
to call for service now before it gets hot and the service companies are
busy.
- Clean the gutters. Once the snow has thawed you should see if your
gutters need to be cleaned and if any downspouts need to be re-attached
after the winter and ice build up. Get it done before heavy spring and
summer rains that can cause water damage or pour off of your house where you
are not expecting it. Call us for an appointment if you need someone
to clean them out for you.
- Change out your furnace filters. Call if you need help.
- Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide
detectors. The time has changed to Daylight Savings Time, those batteries
should be changed as well.
- Turn the water to your outside faucets back on if you turned it off for
the winter.
- Clean the leaves out of any outside drains you may have like in your
driveway or garage or even the city drain at the curb. A clogged drain
on your corner could cause water to back up to your home in a heavy rain.
- Call for repairs and estimates. If you need estimates or repairs for
projects that had to wait over the winter, call and get on schedules as soon
as possible. Times and schedules fill up quickly once the weather breaks and
it is harder to get someone to your home or office quickly during the busy
seasons. Our schedule is filling quickly!
- Enrich your soil for the types of plants you are putting in your yard.
Proper fertilization can keep your soil and your plants in shape throughout
the year.
- Save time and money by having your chimney cleaned now rather than
waiting until the busy season in the fall.
- Are you planning any construction this year? Start getting your plans in
motion and the work started to beat the scheduling rush.
